The fall season usually brings forth many activities to enjoy both in and outside of campus. It gifts people taking as many chances to go outside and enjoy what fall has to offer. From the colors, to the warm clothing, to the food, the cider and the inevitable excitement for Halloween, among others; fall is a great time to celebrate. For me, the fall season is a perfect time to enjoy natural beauty through hiking. The area of Brockport offers many locations with nature trails that will take the breath away from anyone choosing to embark on a hike. One such place is Northampton Park.

Located just south of Brockport Spencerport Road, Northampton Park offers a vast spread of forestry, perfectly made for the fall season. Offering everything from hiking trails to open fields, Northampton Park is a great getaway to enjoy the beauty of nature and fall.

Hiking through the park is something close to living in a dream, with trees and colorful leaves hugging your every direction. The hiking trail circulates around the park with some connecting and others branching away from the main trail. Witnessing anything from small ponds to vast open forests and grass, Northampton Park offers diverse trails that will make you stay longer and longer.

An open forest in the middle of the trail offers space to stop and listen to the sound of nature. The ground is covered by yellow and orange-red leaves, making the forest otherworldly. As you walk through the dense forest, you realize you’re one with nature, as the sounds and colors of the forest put a smile on your face. Some deer or chipmunks may come along your hike to join, while ducks and geese sing above your head, as you look up to enjoy the shining sky bleeding fall colors of the trees’ leaves.

In the middle of the park is a vast open grass field, to which most of the trails connect. Walking through the trails and seeing the field in the distance revealing itself is liberating, accomplishing. As soon as you step foot in the field you feel free, surrounded by the fall trees welcoming you to natural beauty.

The fall season is one of the most enjoyable parts of the year, being full of fun and memorable activities to partake in. Hiking is an activity that allows you to step away for a bit from your everyday worries or stresses and recuperate. Enjoying nature and its beauty can offer an open mind and can be peaceful to many. The outside world is fascinating, and the fall is the perfect season to realize it.
