Brockport Student Government (BSG) is gearing up for its biggest event of the year. Spring Fest is a week of festivities and events, with each day having something new for people to enjoy.

On Monday, April 22, Spring Fest will kick off with free T-shirts. On Tuesday, April 23 a petting zoo provided by Mini Ark Farm will be featured, despite the concerns from some students surrounding it. BSG Activities Director Alexis Graesser was officially presented with an ECHO petition requesting the cancellation of the petting zoo on Friday, March 29. A committee was formed to investigate, and the decision was made to keep the petting zoo.

“The petition specifically states that it [the petting zoo] promotes the violence against animals, and Mini Ark Farm’s mission is to educate people so they don't treat animals poorly,” Graesser said. “I believe that this is a quality company that treats their animals ethically.”

Graesser also said that there will be staff from Mini Ark Farm and BSG at the petting zoo to make sure the animals are treated respectfully.

Wednesday, April 24 will feature Adam Pate, a 60-second caricature artist, who will draw a picture of you and your friends without the normal wait time of a caricature. This event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Seymour College Union Main Lounge.

Thursday, April 25, is the spring concert. Blackbear and We The Kings will perform at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at $10 for students and $25 for guest at the Union Box Office or at bsguniversity.com.
