Anyone who knows me knows I am a sucker for all things “Drag Race.” This season of All Stars is shaping up to be one for the books. If you haven’t been keeping up, I suggest you stop reading now.

This season has showcased some of the greatest queens to enter the “Drag Race” workroom. Household names such as Latrice Royale, Trinity ‘The Tuck’ Taylor, Valentina and Manila Luzon are among the talents of the season. For anyone who keeps up with all things “Drag Race,” they would understand how important this season is for both Latrice and Manila. Both queens were extremely close to winning on their respective seasons and were eliminated fairly early on All Stars One.

Fans were in for a shock when Latrice was sent home earlier than most expected. In retrospect, she had not been doing her best and as much as you love her, there can be no deadweight. Manila was heartbroken over Latrice’s departure, but was excited when the old queens were given a chance to come back and fight for a chance to take a current queens spot. The current queens showed why they had made it so far and kept their spots, along with Latrice rejoining the game.

Season 10 queen Monet X Change has made a step in the right direction on All Stars. All the potential the judges saw in her was clear this time around. The toughest judge Michelle Visage, has complimented her multiple times this season on the runway, which is something that rarely happened in the past. As a loyal fan, I have definitely noticed the development of her wardrobe and spirit in each challenge. In my opinion, she is the underdog, but the one to beat.

All Stars seems to be the platform most of these queens are using to correct any misconceptions the public has of them. Latina queen Valentina was adored on her season, even winning “Miss Congeniality.” Her fame dwindled when a video of her doing a lip sync with a mask on went viral. This season, Valentina has shown that although she lives in her own world most days, she can indeed slay a lip sync.

Monique Heart, known as the “heart” of season 10 was also able to redeem herself. Like Valentina, Monique had some issues with lip syncs. She also struggled with her runway looks being a bit homemade. This season however, she has upped her performance, runway looks and wigs.

Gia Gunn from season six gave me mixed feelings. On one hand I was proud, because her story of drag helping her be comfortable to come out as a trans woman was beautiful. However, the shady part of her came back out fairly quickly. She would say things in a way that would easily start problems with the other contestants. Luckily the other queens caught on quickly and called her out multiple times.

The season has been amazing so far and I can’t wait to see what the remaining five queens pull off.
