On Saturday, Sept. 22 you may have noticed more traffic than usual in the Seymour Union. The Brockport Student Government hosted the second ever Cheese Fest in the Fireside Lounge across from the Union Square.

BSG set up two rows of tables that were lined with different assortments of cheese products. There was no actual cheese by itself but products that were made with cheese were available.

Some food items BSG provided were: pizza logs, mozzarella sticks, pizza (cheese, pepperoni and garlic), mac and cheese, fried mac and cheese bites, cheesecake, cheese danishes, cheese puffs, quesadillas, chips and queso, Cheez its and juice were also provided for those who attended.

Music played while people came and went from the Union, some people danced, others too focused on getting their second helping of cheesy goods.

There was an amazing turn out for the event, people were filling up both the tabling area seats as well as occupying some tables in the square.

BSG reached out to multiple establishments throughout the Brockport area to get the best variety they could. The club was able to work with Walmart, Jimmy Z’s, Wegmans, Dominos, BASC and other businesses to get everything that they needed to make the event just as good as last year.

“This is an event that we held last year, it went really well then, so we decided to continue it,” said BSG Activities Coordinator, Pamela Fenton.

According to Fenton, BSG would like to continue having this event each year as well as its other event, Bread Fest. Both events had a great turn out and a ton of food.

The event was a good opportunity to get free food and just relax with friends, with the music playing in the background, it put on a good mood for those who attended.

Much like Bread Fest, BSG hoped to provide a safe and fun thing for students, outside of the party culture present on many college campuses.
