*SPOILER ALERT* Taraji P. Henson and Tyler Perry have joined forces to create one of the best thrillers of 2018.

The film starts off with the rehashing of history between Melinda (Henson), and Robert (Lyriq Bent). Melinda struggled in school, not able to figure out  her life. She did not foresee how much Robert was going to derail her even more. The pair met at college. Robert’s good looks, charm and intellegence reeled her in. He believed he could make the world better with a new type of battery he was working on. When Melinda inherits her mother’s money, young Robert all of a sudden “needs” things. Perry portrays Robert’s character as a manipulator who tricks her into spending money on him. Instead of taking care of herself, Melinda spends the money on things for Robert, like a car, eventually running out.

Would you believe this man had the audacity to cheat on her? Now Melinda had a crazy side, and seeing Robert have sex with another woman brought it out. She even ran her car over the trailer Robert lived in, and destroyed the car she bought him, threatening to kill both him and the girl before collapsing from the impact off the crash. After all this, Robert managed to weasel his way back in.

Everyone told her she was stupid, that he was using her, but she was sticking by him. Fast forward 18 years later, Melinda is still the sole provider of the household, an office employee by day and a cleaner by night. Exhausted, she wanted Robert to give up on the battery and get a real job to help her out.

More trouble enters their lives when Diana, who he cheated on Melinda with years ago, starts to work at the company he’s been trying sell his battery to for 18 years. While this opens the opportunity for recognition, it adds to his marital problems. Of course, his wife thinks he is cheating again, whether he was or not. This was just too much for Melinda, who requests a divorce and kicks him out.

The messed up part about it is this: after they break up, Diana’s still in love with Robert. With her help, he finally sells the battery for three times its worth. Robert’s life is falling into place, while Melinda spent her days missing him. Robert gifts Melinda a check with $10 million and pays for her mother’s house, which was way more than what he owed her, but Melinda is PISSED.

To add insult to injury, Robert and Diana get engaged and she becomes pregnant. This news caused Melinda to lose it, and she starts threatening them both. She burned Diana’s dress with acid. Not even a restraining order could stop her, though. She continues with this behavior, and tried to kill Diana and Robert, only to end up dead herself. The film was filled with many twists and turns, and I enjoyed it immensely. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good thriller. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
