With more than 60 percent of the vote, Chantelle Nasri took the treasurer-elect title for next year's Brockport Student Government leadership.

As a current student manager of Seymour College Union, you may have seen her running through the Fireside Lounge or setting up the plethora of events that happen within the Union walls.

Next year, you will see her setting up post in her new BSG office, awaiting student concerns to address, budgets to pass and papers to sign.

Although she has never held a position in BSG, she is using her outside perspective to help her address what students really want, not just what BSG insiders want. A major in finance and mathematics, she's got the skills she needs to take on the position in the coming Fall 2017 semester.

The Stylus' Emma Misiaszek and Talon Television teamed up to interview Chantelle Nasri. For the video, visit this article online at brockportstylus.org.

Q: How will you be a voice for students?

A: "In terms of advocating, it's really about being that voice for the entire student body to administration, whether that be for your student activity fee which I plan on re-assessing; whether it be for club funding; for getting things implemented on campus that students feel are absent. I really want to make all the budgets public via the website. I really want to make also available to students to answer questions a good relationship with them. I can also be a voice because I would be handling student budgets in my hand. I can see how that's allocated. If it's not being allocated to the best of their benefit I can be that voice."

Q: What are some of the things you are hoping to implement as treasurer?

A: "I have heard a lot of complaints from commuter students feeling like the student activity fee is being geared toward them and their needs. It serves a lot for programming for on-campus students. I want the student activity fee, since it is a mandatory fee for students to pay every year, I really want them to feel like that amount of money they're spending goes to improving their social life on campus or off campus."

Q: What do you want students to know?

A: "BSG will be your voice to administration. If you feel strongly about something and want change made -you know, President [Heidi] Macpherson might not hear you but she meets with Devin Bonner, the president, or she meets with executive officers in BSG constantly. We can be that voice and we can really make your point made to administration, and like I said, to hopefully get positive change made on campus."
