History has recently been made with the State of New York being the first state in the nation to offer complete tuition coverage for in-state students in both two-year and four-year universities. The scholarship, known as the Excelsior Scholarship will be available for students who meet the requirements of a family income below the $100,000 mark, until 2019 when that minimum requirement will change to $125,000.

Recently passed by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, the scholarship is set to be put into effect by the beginning of the upcoming Fall 2017 semester.

The College at Brockport will be hosting an Excelsior Instant Decision Day on Friday, April 21. Two panels will be taking place, the first beginning at 8 a.m. and ending between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. The second panel will begin at 11:30 a.m. and go until 3 p.m. According to brockport.edu, the panels will serve as a way to relay information pertaining to the scholarship and the sorts of requirements students will need in order to be eligible.

The website also explained incoming freshman and transfer students should bring their financial information because financial aid personnel will be present to help determine a student's financial status as well as have a tour of the college campus.
